Description
The reference state plant community (1.1) is a grassland with mid and short grasses mixed with shrubs and a relatively small percentage of forbs and annuals. With disturbances the plant community becomes a grassland/shrubland. Plant species most likely to invade or increase on this site with disturbances are rabbitbrush, broom snakeweed, annuals, cacti, and wooly groundsel. Unmanaged grazing during the winter and spring periods will decrease the cool season grasses, which are replaced by lower forage value grasses and shrubs.
